Want cheaper, greener electricity? Then support Franklin's municipal aggregation efforts.
Why aggregation?
As of December 2023, 167 cities and towns had approved municipal aggregation programs for electricity purchasing. You can find a list of these programs here. They've seen such benefits as:
The Town of Franklin has selected Dynegy Energy Services as the electricity provider for the Community Choice Power Supply Program. This program has 100% renewable energy. Your electricity would still be distributed and billed through National Grid. Residents are automatically enrolled in the aggregation plan but can opt out at any time. If you are not currently enrolled for any reason, you can also opt in. While aggregation doesn’t guarantee lower costs, any rate increases or savings are expected to be small (plus or minus 5% compared with current basic rates).
You can read more about the Franklin Municipal Aggregation program here on the town website. We also encourage you to check out the 2022 report from the Green Energy Consumers Alliance "Green Power at Lower Cost: Municipal Aggregation is a Huge Success in Massachusetts". Their 2023 report is available now.
